Click here for NOPS TV AugustWorkbenchRecap August 24, 2018   Orleans Parish SchoolWorkbenchApproves CEA for Safe Routes to School; Establishes Voter Registration for High School Students and CharterWorkbenchGovernance Working Group Warren Easton Teacher Honored as 2019 Louisiana High School Teacher of the Year NEW ORLEANS – (Aug. 23, 2018) – At the Orleans Parish SchoolWorkbench(OPSB) workbench merchantry meeting on Thursday, Aug. 23, the workbench voted to legitimatize a Safe Routes to School Cooperative EndeavorTry-on(CEA) with the City of New Orleans, High School Voter Registration as well as established a CharterWorkbenchGovernance Working Group. Additionally this evening, the workbench honored Warren Easton Faculty member Stephen Goodly as the 2019 Louisiana High School Teacher of the Year. OPSB Honors Warren Easton Teacher Named 2019 Louisiana High School Teacher of the Year Warren Easton Senior High School teacher Mr. Stephen Goodly was named the 2019 Louisiana High School Teacher of the Year by the Louisiana Department of Education. The workbench honored Mr. Goodly at today’s workbench meeting for his outstanding achievement.WorkbenchApproves Safe Routes to School CooperativeTry-onToday, the Orleans Parish SchoolWorkbench(OPSB) tried a cooperative endeavor try-on with the City of New Orleans to increase safety for students going to and from school. The goal of the initiative is to identify troubled traffic corridors, develop guidelines to modernize safety in those areas, develop a citywide school safety campaign, provide training to school crossing guards and evaluate spare infrastructure needs to support the safety of students. OPSB Votes to Make Voter RegistrationMisogynistto Students The workbench unexplored a resolution encouraging schools, under the jurisdiction of the OPSB, to make voter registration and voter education opportunities hands wieldy to students. CharterWorkbenchGovernance Working Group Established The OPSB voted to establish a CharterWorkbenchGovernance Working Group to research and provide recommendations to the workbench regarding policies to strengthen lease workbench governance. The working group will moreover ensure that the governing boards of lease schools are properly trained.WorkbenchApprovesUnstipulatedFund Transfer for OPSB Central Office The workbench tried the typecasting of money from a unstipulated fund wastefulness reserve to the FY 2018-2019 unstipulated fund budget. This transfer will indulge the OPSB to unhook all necessary supports and services to the Travis Hill Schools as well as the salaries for the family and polity engagement team during 2019 Fiscal Year. OPSB ApprovesUnstipulatedFundWastefulnessTransfer to McDonogh 35 At the recommendation of theUpkeepand Finance Committee, the OPSB voted to legitimatize the megacosm of the McDonogh 35 Transition Fund to make funds misogynist for spare supports for students at McDonogh 35 Senior High School. The clearance will provide a fund to ensure that McDonogh 35 receives the necessary wonk supports it needs.InflowingInsurance Renewed for Upcoming Fiscal Year The workbench tried a number of numismatic items including the renewal of inflowing insurance for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. The OPSB currently oversees 78 public schools, including 75 charter schools, two direct-operated schools and a school with two educational programs for students in secure-care facilities.
