Click here for NOPS TV New Orleans School District Achieves ‘Top Growth’ on State Assessments August 30, 2018 NEW ORLEANS – (August 29, 2018) – Today, August 29 2018, the Louisiana Department of Education released data showing the percentage of students in each school and district that achieved “top growth,” or what the state would undeniability “A” graded growth. As a district, New Orleans tied 22nd place in English Language Arts, performing largest than 44 out of 72 districts and moreover tied 18th place in Math, performing largest than 53 out of 72 districts. “As a former school leader, I know that achieving growth can be challenging, but when we push forward and progress we are setting our students up for success,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr. ”I want to congratulate all of the schools that achieved these upbringing considering this victory is a testament to their effectiveness.” “The Orleans Parish School Board is excited to congratulate all of the schools that achieved growth,” said OPSB President John A. Brown, Sr. “We thank all of the teachers and staff for their nonflexible work and we remain single-minded to improving the quality of schools wideness our city.” Among those schools is the Travis Hill School which saw “top growth” for 60% of its students in English Language Arts. The no-go work performed by these students, in spite of challenging situations is a huge success for the school. Improving the quality of instruction for our students in secure superintendency facilities has been and continues to be a priority for the Orleans Parish School Board and this is just one indicator of the progress seen there.
